Diving Overview for El Mina Wreck

El Mina Wreck has a maximum diving depth of around 30 m / 98.4 ft and is suitable for all divers. The average visibility is 10-20 metres and access to the dive site is by boat.

The El Mina wreck is mostly unknown vessel thought to have sunk during the 6 Day War in 1969. The name 'El Mina' is Egyptian for 'The Harbour' as become the substitute name for this wreck. This small mine sweeper now lies on her port side at just over 30m near Hurghada Harbour. 

The El Mina remains fully intact complete with all anti-aircraft guns except for the main deck gun. You can clearly see the damage of the blast hole at caused her to sink and this makes a good entry point for penetration. 

The bow lies at 25m and the stern at about 32m, the whole wreck is about 70m long and can easily be explored in one dive. There is a often a strong surface current but usually subsides as you descend.

Many divers also 'Excalibur' and together these two wrecks are known as the Twin Wrecks of Hurghada.
