More Information
The Alona Beach is home to a very shallow reef that is now a protected marine sanctuary.
At high tide, the reef top sits at about 10m and drops down to 20m. The reef wall is full of multicoloured corals and sea fans, sponges and tunicates. The shallow depth allows you to see the reef in all its full colour. Expect to see parrot and cardinal fish, angels, butterflies, moorish idols and vibrant coloured nudibranchs.
This is a popular night dive where you can see cuttlefish feeding on little cardinalfish, hunting lionfish, frogfish and the occasional octopus.
Visibility is great, currents are rare and maximum depth is 25m although most dives stay above 15m.
