More Information
The M V Mataora was a Tongan registered cargo vessel measuring almost 45m in length and weighing approximately 299 gross tonnes. This vessel was purchased by a local dive company and scuttled for divers in 1990 just off the northern reefs of Rarotonga.
The H V Mataora now lies broken on the seabed at around 18-20m depth. The wreck itself is intersting and a great location for lionfish and smaller critters. There are some beautiful corals and tropical species nearby on the northern reef which help to make this an all round beautiful dive.
