Diving Overview for New Hampshire
New Hampshire is a state in the northeastern region of the United States of America with a short stretch of coastline that boarders the Atlantic Ocean to the east.
There are many diving opportunities in New Hampshire ranging for freshwater Lakes and quarries to coastal shore and boat dives.
Portsmouth and the Isle of Shoals are popular diving areas. Diving around the Isles of Shoals you can expect to see seals and lobsters as well the occasssional bit of military shrapnal as this was once a military target area. There are plenty of diving opportunities but take care as boat traffic, especially in summer, can be quite heavy.
Lake Winnipesaukee sits between the Belknap and Ossippee mountains and can some spectacular views and is the most popular site for freshwater diving in New Hampshire. It has 240 miles of shoreline and there are 365 little islands on the lake that provide great wall dives as well as several shipwrecks. Marine life is good with many eels, bass, perch, sunfish and carp. The most popular dive site at Winnipesaukee is the Lady of the Lake, a 135 foot passenger steamboat that now lies upright in 30ft of water.
