Wisconsin is located in the north-central USA and is considered part of the Midwest. The main diving locations in Wisconsin are The Great Lakes, Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, which contain a number of amazing archeological shipwrecks. Wisconsin Historical Society maintains permanent mooring buoys on several popular historic shipwrecks making it easy to dive the wrecks.
It is important to monitor weather conditions when diving in Wisconsin as Lake Superior and Lake Michigan are well-known for adverse weather conditions. Water temperatures vary with the seasons with surface temperatures reaching 65F in summer (normally 45-55F at depth), so dry-suits are recommended. Visibility normally ranges from 10 to 80 feet, but can be reduced to zero if weather conditions are particularly unfavourable.
